Shiloh (girl)
Shiloh has recently entered my list of faves for a mn. While it is usually a boy's name (if used at all) I really like it for a girl. It has very soft sounds so it sounds delicate--a nice foil to the harder sounds of some of my favorite first names like Delia. It has never been in the top 1000 so it is unique without being unheard of.
In US history, the Battle of Shiloh was a major event in the Civil War.
In the Old Testament, Shiloh was the name of the place where the Israelites kept the Ark of the Covenant until the Philistines took it. It was also used as a term to possibly represent the coming messiah. It comes from the Hebrew word for "peace."
